winther jigsaw puzzles

Autumn splendor at Mount Fuji, Schmidt

If you came here from the discover feed and was expecting a photo blog from Japan, then I must disappoint as this is simply my personal log of jigsaw puzzles. Which occasionally has great motives like this one.

The approach to motives like with few sections of almost identical pieces is quite different. It is basically just starting somewhere with the sorted pieces and then trial and error until one matches. Unlike more busy motives where you search for specific pieces and fill in blanks all over the place, this has more of a cascading effect where one piece unlocks a handful more immediately after as color shade and shape gets lumped together. So while it looked daunting at first with several hundred pieces in same shades of blue, it actually was relatively quick and easy to get done.
